Burnside Cottage is located in Furnace near Inveraray, Argyll & Bute. It is a charming and romantic 200 year old self catering holiday cottage, located in the picturesque village of Furnace some 8 miles south of Inveraray, Argyll & Bute.
The self catering accommodation, which sleeps up to 5 people, has all the character and appeal of a traditional Scottish highland cottage and is located in an area of outstanding natural beauty. Many parts of the West Highlands of Scotland including many islands are within easy reach as part of your self catering holiday. Visit us and enjoy Island Hopping.
Burnside Cottage enjoys panoramic views down Loch Fyne and boasts a lovely setting adjacent to the Leacainn Water, which flows through Furnace into Loch Fyne. The holiday cottage has a wood burning stove in the lounge and a second sitting room with views of Loch Fyne. Directly opposite the cottage sits the Old Iron Furnace, which has a wonderful granite facade. Burnside Cottage has a lovely front garden and a burnside patio at the rear.
The local pub The Furnace Inn and Post Office/shop are just two minutes walk away. Inveraray is a ten minute drive. Burnside Cottage is located in the old heart of Furnace village about six miles south of Inveraray. The cottage is detached and sits directly opposite the old Craleckan Iron furnace. The front garden has some lovely shrubs and flowers, whilst the burn rushes past the back patio which enjoys wonderful views down Loch Fyne.
Inside the cottage the accommodation consists of a small hallway, a large lounge and dining area with open exposed beams and wood burning stove, a further sitting room complete with electric fire, TV and video and with views down Loch Fyne. There is a large large double bedroom with complete with a a pine king size bed pine furniture. Upstairs there are two small attic bedrooms, one with a double bed the other a single. The attic bedrooms both have velux windows to the rear and steeply coombed ceilings.
The attic bedrooms are great fun for children but are probably unsuitable for young children (under 3) given the steep stairs. There is an additional electrically inflated double air bed for overnight guests and there is a travel cot suitable for a young child or baby.
There is a newly renovated and decorated bathroom with both a new bathroom suite including a bath and electric shower.
The fully fitted kitchen comes complete with washing machine, microwave, fridge/freezer, microwave, toaster etc. The cottage is equipped with colour TV, Video and a CD/Radio player. There is also a wide selection of books, which you are welcome to read during your stay.
Burnside Cottage enjoys a beautiful cottage garden to the front with a wide range of shrubs and perennials. To the rear the cottage has a wonderful burn side patio area, complete with patio furniture, which boasts spectacular views of Loch Fyne and the sound of the Leacainn Water as it flows past the cottage. In the early morning you will often see dippers feeding in the burn.
There is an ample store of both logs and coal but the cottage also benefits from off peak electric central heating should you need it. The cooker has a calor gas hob and a fan assisted electric oven. All fuel including electricity is included within the rental fee.
There is a good village pub (The Furnace Inn), a post office and shop within 400 yards of the cottage.
