Loch Fyne - At 41 miles in length Loch Fyne is the longest sea loch in Scotland. The area around Loch Fyne is beautiful and includes many places and areas of interest that are well worth visiting.
Loch Fyne supports both dolphins and seals and in the summer it is possible to see basking sharks. Loch Fyne is very popular with sailors, anglers and divers.
There are a number of interesting settlements and sites around Loch Fyne. Inveraray which dates back to 1453 is a very attractive small town located near the top end of the loch. It is one of the earliest planned towns in Scotland and boasts many visitor attractions. Smaller communities include Furnace and Minard. On the eastern shores some 4 miles from Inveraray lies the old ruins of Castle Lachlan. Further south the loch joins Loch Goil, where Lochgilphead the administrative centre of Argyll & Bute is located.
Near the mouth of Loch Fyne lies Tarbert, a safe harbour for sailing craft and a lovely little town in it’s own right. Watch out for the Tarbert Folk Festival one of the best in Argyll. Enjoy some of the fine food on offer, not to mention the golf course and some excellent local walks.

The hills surrounding Loch Fyne provide some excellent hill walking and as can been seen from the photograph you are never far away from some of the larger munroes of the Central and Western Highlands.

 Loch Fyne - Being a sea loch, Loch Fyne provides sailors easy access to sailing around the Scottish Islands. By using the Crinan Canal sailors can pass into the Sound of Jura.
Loch Fyne - Everybody knows Loch Fyne Oysters. The Loch Fyne Oysters site has a restaurant, shop and garden centre.
Loch Fyne - Try Fyne Ales. Wonderful beer brewed in a small brewery at the top of Loch Fyne. These beers are excellent. Look for the road signs for the brewery near Loch Fyne Oysters.
